Burren Ecotourism Network – The Best Community Tourism Project
The Burren Ecotourism Network in County Clare has been named the ‘Best Community Tourism Project’ by Lonely Planet. It blazed a trail in what the Lonely Planet’s “Best in Travel 2021 list” describes as the best in “regenerative travel”.

With the global pandemic bringing leisure travel to a virtual standstill since early 2020 the Lonely Planet was forced into completely reimagining” its best in travel picks for 2021 and it said it has tried to reflect how the world and attitudes to travel have changed.
For 2021, Lonely Planet has decided to recognize the places and people demonstrating a genuine commitment to community, diversity and sustainability across the world. The global travel company, Lonely Planet, unveiled the accolade in its prestigious Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2021, naming the Burren Ecotourism Network as one of ten winners in its new ‘Best in Community’ category.
Lonely Planet described Burren Ecotourism Network as “an impressive community collaboration of local enterprises which has transformed Ireland’s Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark into a global leader for sustainable tourism”.
